The first effort

to bring our countries closer

and create

a Greek - Baltic friendship…

an open letter for all.....

and Cultural associations in Greece, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland

and other countries everywhere they are!

Edessa, November 2005 – Greece 

The “Educational and Cultural Association Friends of Baltic Countries” was established in Greece in June 2005 and is located in Edessa, the city of green and waters, that is 100 km to the west of Thessaloniki.

 Members of our association have visited the Baltic countries through various programs and have come in contact with people of these countries. They discussed historical, cultural, educational subjects and matters that concern everyday life.

  Even though geographically so far and at first sight seems that our populations cannot have any common features, it was observed that actually they have historical elements which bring them nearer. Throughout history our populations have come several times in contact with the other nations passing through, sometimes hostilily and other times peacefully.

So we understood that there exists enough cultural resemblance between our nations and much more similarities in the way of thinking and daily attitude of our people.

This is the main reason why our association was established.

We determinedly believe that we can present these common characteristics that connect our populations, bringing close the people of cultural associations, all institutions, Municipalities, all the educational communities, but also we want everyone individually to believe that they could offer something to this idea.

We could collaborate making exchanges of historical and cultural content, of course accompanied by conducted tours to get to know the beauties and sights of each country.

We also believe that bringing our populations near, creating friendly relations between them, we will be able to develop possible relations that will exceed by far the results of simple tourist travel with some beautiful pictures of those few days.

Proposal of our association is all the Municipalities and Cultural institutions of your country to report their action and their interest in the educative and cultural exchanges through the travels that we might organise from Baltic countries to Greece and from Greece to Baltic countries.

We here in Greece have direct contact for collaboration with all the cultural institutions and our Municipalities, that have been informed with regard of the idea - our proposal.

Very soon we will see the results of this collaboration that will be for the first time in the historical chronicles between our countries.

We wait for your correspondence to our proposal for collaboration.
