The Εstonian group "SEGAPIDI" and the teachers from Rakvere in Greece

The music dance group Segapidi and teachers from Rakvere – Estonia were for 7 days in Edessa – Greece

The Greek educational – cultural association friends of Baltic countries had in Edessa and other places in North Greece the music dance group Segapidi and teachers from Rakvere – Estonia for 7 days. In our town they watched the celebration and the parade of our national day of 28th of October and they visited the Municipality of Edessa, where were the major Mr. Ioannis Sontras. They visited all the sightseeing in Edessa, the beauties, the nature and the waters. On Monday evening of 30 October they gave a presentation in Edessa’s town hall with traditional songs and dances. In this performance participated and the local dance group from Edessa Megas Alexandros. They visited 2 primary schools one in a small village Mesimeri and the other in town the 8th of Edessa. They visited the classes and discussed with the pupils and the teachers and also the heads of education in our prefecture of Pella and the advisor of education in Edessa. The rest of the days we visited Meteora area, the Pozar in collaboration with the climbing association, the ancient Vergina, Veria town, the palace in ancient Pella, the city of Thessaloniki, the Petralona cave in Chalkidiki and many Monasteries and churches. After their department back to Estonia our friends told us that this trip was a beautiful experience quite different from other trips. In this trip they could see our country, how live the Greek people, their hospitality and their friendship. They have now new friends and we both feel like a family. Of course they invited us to go to Estonia and to do a lot of activities there too. Next year in 2007 we will visit also the Baltic States for 3rd time and especially Lithuania and Estonia with common activities and meet there again our friends and partners. We thank a lot the Major of Edessa and all the people and organizations which worked with us to create this beautiful trip for the Estonian friends. The teachers and the directors of the schools we visited, the cultural associations of Mesimeri, the cultural association of Edessa Megas Alexandros, the association from Pontos, the dance group Megas Alexandros, the climbing association and all the friends and members of our association they helped to organize all the activities and events.
